Considering adding a few new plants to your yard? I wanted to take a moment to highlight this incredible FREE resource for landscapers and garden enthusiasts alike in Virginia. Plant Virginia Natives has published native plant guides specific to each region of Virginia.

Each guide highlights gorgeous, showy natives that are perfect for turning your yard into an oasis for pollinators and wildlife. What I love most about this guide is how easy it is to use. Every plant has a color photograph, icons detailing growing conditions as well as the wildlife it supports, and a bulleted write up detailing the plant.
Want to attract more butterflies (and caterpillars)? Flip through looking for the butterfly icon. Want to better support the environment but worried about too much shade in your yard? Flip through looking for the shade icon. They’ve made it so easy!
These (native) plants form the primary structure of the living landscape and provide food and shelter for native animal species.

If you are considering landscaping a new bed in your yard, or replacing some of your contractor shrubs with natives, I highly recommend this resource.
Not from Virginia? What is your state doing to highlight native plants in your region?
